The Golden Gage Plum tree is a popular, robust, and reliable fruit tree. It's known for its attractive, dual-purpose fruit that bridges the gap between a true plum and a sweet greengage.

Essential Characteristics

Fruit Appearance: Large, round fruit with striking bright golden-yellow skin  and translucent yellow flesh.

Taste & Use: Features a strong, fruity flavor with moderate sweetness, making it ideal for both eating fresh and cooking/preserving (like jam or bottling).

Harvest Time: Typically ripens in the mid-season, usually around Mid-August.

Pollination: It is Self-Fertile (or partially), meaning you only need one tree to get a crop.

Vigor & Size: Generally a vigorous and upright growing tree. Mature size often reaches 4-5 meters (around 13-16 feet) on a semi-vigorous rootstock, or smaller if on a dwarf rootstock.

Growing: Tends to be relatively hardy and is a reliable cropper, performing well even in cooler climates, provided it's in a sunny, sheltered spot.
